Book Week Parade

Book Week is one of the longest running children’s festivals in Australia. This year Book Week is scheduled for Saturday 18th - Friday 24th August. This year's theme for Book Week is 'Reading is my Super Power'.

As in the past there will be a number of activities taking place in the Library at lunchtime and during class lesson time, designed to promote reading and a love of books. A very popular event during Book Week is our annual Book Week parade. This year the kids are encouraged to dress up as any book character. As always, I know families will use their imagination to dream up what are always amazing costumes, so have fun.

This year our Book Week Parade will be on Wednesday 21st August at 9.30am in the Church.   As always, all younger siblings are invited to take part in the parade in the morning. We look forward to seeing you at the parade with cameras ready.

Working With Children Checks

Stronger, nationally consistent screening laws for people working to work or volunteer with children in South Australia start on 1st July 2019. Once the laws come into effect there is a 12 month transition period in which the school will be required to implement the changes.

A valid WWCC is transferable between jobs and volunteer positions and lasts for 5 years.

What do you need to do?.....

If you have a current DCSI or DHS screening clearance it will be recognised under the new law until it expires.
If you need a WWCC for the first time, or if your current Catholic Police Check has expired, please contact Paula Ogilvie at the Front Office and she will explain the new process for you.

Another Baby

There must surely be something in the Western suburb's water. Congratulations to Nikki Hall and her husband Tony= on the birth of their first child Oliver Anthony, born this week. Welcome to the world Oliver. The Year 3H children are excited to meet him when he comes in for 'Show and Tell'.

Welcome Staff

From time to time there is a need to employ additional Education Officer Support (ESO) for teachers who have learning needs in their classrooms. This term we have been fortunate to have employed Libby Luey to our staff. Libby will be working in the Reception area this year supporting students and teachers. We are very fortunate to have Libby on board as she is also an Occupational Therapist-an amazing skill to have a t Star of the Sea. Welcome Libby

Have a great weekend ahead.
