Hello Friends
We certainly have had a little taste of Spring over the past weeks and footy finals are in the air. I hope your team, like mine are still in the running. There has been a few cases of colds and flu like symptoms around the school of late and I hope that you and your family are in good health.
Building Project Update
Our building progress continues to develop at a steady rate. Over 800 tons of soil have been removed from the site and we are nearing at the end of major earthworks for this stage of the project.
The concrete slab area of the atrium has been poured and the concrete pilings that formed the major part of the earlier earthworks are clearly visible from Military Road.
The lift shaft pad adjacent the old downstairs toilet is clearly visible and is being prepared for concreting.
Over the coming weeks and months the builders will need to take access to the internal corridors of the McKillop building to make the extension of the corridors on both levels possible. There will be the need to move and decanter some of the classrooms in the Mackillop building and we hope to minimise the impact on children’s learning during this process.
I am pleased to report that the children are responding so positively to the building progress this far and have remained in great spirits. There has been much delight in the students watching the earth movers and trucks going to and from the building site. I ask parents to be mindful of building vehicles entering and exiting from the Military Rd and Seaview Rd driveways.
Cybersafety
With new Apps being available almost daily I encourage parents and caregivers to use the following link from the commissioner of e-safety to help children navigate the cyber world. I strongly encourage parents to learn about the apps that your children may have on their devices and their functionality. I also suggest that you check the age rating for the app, as this tells us the age the child should be to use the app. Just like a rating for a movie, the age rating for the App tells us the age at which the child should access the app.
I also encourage your child’s device to ‘sleep’ in the kitchen or somewhere central in the home away from their bed, to help ensure an uninterrupted sleep.

Military Rd and Seaview Rd Pick up and Drop off points
I am pleased to write that traffic appears to be flowing more efficiently on Military Rd. Remember that your child needs to be able to enter and alight from the vehicle independently. Parents are reminded that blocking the Northbound lane of Military Rd and Southbound lane of Seaview Rd is not allowed and risks incurring a traffic fine from SAPOL.
